Where Does Jennifer Lawrence Live? A Peek at the Oscar Winner’s Bicoastal Portfolio

Where does Jennifer Lawrence live these days? In recent years, the star has kept a low profile in favor of nurturing her home life. The actor and her husband, art gallerist Cooke Maroney, currently own property on both coasts. The couple, who tied the knot at a stunning Richard Morris Hunt–designed estate in Rhode Island in 2019, have a two-year-old son named Cy and are currently expecting their second child. They largely keep to themselves, a decision that seems to be a direct result of Lawrence’s experience with fame. In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner explained that in order to protect her privacy, she had to rehome her beloved dog, Pippi, to her parents’ place in Kentucky in order to avoid paparazzi who would try to catch them out on their daily walks in Central Park. Of her time away from the spotlight, Lawrence admitted, “I didn’t have a life. I thought I should go get one.”

Not that Lawrence has been sitting idle in recent years. She most recently executive produced Zurawski v Texas, a reproductive rights documentary, alongside Hilary and Chelsea Clinton. And she’s next set to star alongside Robert Pattinson and LaKeith Stanfield in upcoming thriller Die, My Love. These days, Lawrence is content to take things one day at a time. “There is no ‘next,’” she said in an interview with Good Morning America in 2023 of what she envisions the next 10 years to look like. “Once you start your family, it’s the greatest thing in the world. I’m just gonna try to take in every second, and be present, and enjoy it.” Below, we’re taking a look back at some of the places Lawrence has called home over the years.

Santa Monica town house

In the years prior to her big break in the film Winter’s Bone, Lawrence lived in a modest town house in Santa Monica, which her parents purchased for $879,000 in 2006. The two-bedroom contemporary-style residence measured 1,413 square feet, with hardwood flooring and recessed lighting throughout. Listing images show a sizable living room with a fireplace and a dining room that opened onto a small outdoor space. The primary suite featured vaulted ceilings and a balcony. Lawrence went on to star in number of box office successes, including The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle; her parents sold her starter home 10 years later, for $1.15 million in 2016.

Beverly Hills mansion

By 2014, Lawrence had already won an Oscar for her turn as quick-witted Tiffany opposite Bradley Cooper’s Pat in Silver Linings Playbook. That year, she purchased an $8.2 million mansion in Beverly Hills that previously belonged to Jessica Simpson. (Fun fact: Ellen DeGeneres also previously called the residence home.) The house was originally built in 1991 and has five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms spread across 5,500 square feet. Situated behind gates with plenty of mature trees in the yard for the utmost privacy, the Hamptons-style dwelling is a veritable retreat. There is a gourmet kitchen, a breakfast nook, and a cavernous primary suite with a walk-in closet with its own hair and makeup station. A stone courtyard and koi pond add extra pizzazz to the park-like grounds. Lawrence and Maroney still own this home, and likely make it their primary residence when they’re on the West Coast.

Upper East Side penthouse

Lawrence’s next real estate purchase took her to the East Coast: In 2016, she picked up a luxurious Upper East Side penthouse for $15.6 million. The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom pad measured 4,072 square feet, with an additional 3,000 square feet of enviable outdoor space split across two floors. Everything about Lawrence’s New York residence was top-notch: a private elevator to the unit, 360-degree views of the city via floor-to-ceiling windows, and a stunning two-sided limestone fireplace that separated the great room into two sitting areas. The primary suite involved a spare bedroom converted into a dressing room, as well as two bathrooms. Building amenities included a fitness center with a lap pool, a game room, a theater, and an ultra private paparazzi-proof garage. The Don’t Look Up actor didn’t stay long, however. She first listed the home for $15.45 million in July 2019 and lowered the price a few times. It was last listed for $12 million in late 2019 and sold for $9.9 million in early 2020.
