Vin Diesel has just provided an update on Fast X: Part 2 amid all the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Fast & Furious franchise. All signs pointed to the final Fast & Furious movie, tentatively titled Fast X: Part 2, beginning filming sometime before the end of the year. Diesel said as much earlier this year and even posted photos from the set during pre-production. However, things began heading in a different direction over the last few months, when Jason Momoa confirmed he hadn’t read a script, and a concerning report saying that Universal would cancel the film altogether if the budget weren’t brought down.
This hasn’t stopped Diesel from continuing to share updates that give Fast & Furious fans a reason to be optimistic. Over the weekend, Diesel took to his personal Instagram to share several photos of himself and even a video of himself with Universal Pictures Chief Marketing Officer Michael Moses. During the video, Moses says that he and Diesel are “planning everything, and they’ve got it solved.” This seemingly confirms that the uncertainty swirling around Fast X: Part 2 has been put to bed, and Universal has reached a place where it’s comfortable footing the bill for the film’s production. Diesel is also wearing a shirt that says "Fast X: Part 2 Los Angeles Production 2025," signifying that production will begin before the end of the year.
Plot details about Fast X: Part 2 are being kept under wraps, but it may yet be the most star-studded Fast & Furious movie ever made. After stepping away for a few movies, both Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson are expected back in the final installment as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs. Jason Momoa will also return as Dante Reyes, along with Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, and Ludacris. The images from Diesel's Instagram can be found below and the video with Michael Moses can be found here.
When Will ‘Fast X: Part 2’ Come Out?
Universal has yet to announce when Fast X: Part 2 will be released — the studio likely avoided setting a release date with so much uncertainty surrounding the film. It looks like production is finally going to begin soon, but it could easily take months to get everything done for a movie of this scale. If Fast X: Part 2 begins filming before the end of the year, it may be close to the end of 2026 before it wraps, leaving a late 2027 or even early 2028 release date as the most likely windows. There have also been whispers of another Hobbs & Shaw movie, but nothing concrete has been announced on this front.
Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of Fast X: Part 2.
