British TV host Laura Woods shocked fans when she collapsed during a live soccer broadcast in England and was sent to the hospital to recover.
“Gosh, that was a bit weird,” Woods, 38, wrote via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, December 2, after the match. “Sorry to worry everyone.”
The reporter assured her fans she is “OK,” explaining that the “wonderful” paramedics at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, England, think it was “probably a virus” that led to her falling over suddenly.
“Just need a bit of rest and hydration,” Woods continued. “I’m really embarrassed that happened on TV, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight.”
She gave a shout-out to her counterparts Ian Wright and Anita Asante, a.k.a “Wrighty and Neets for catching me,” adding, “Sorry again.”
Woods caused a stir on Tuesday while presenting ITV’s pre-match coverage for the women’s England vs. Ghana soccer game at St. Mary’s Stadium.
According to a video shared via X, Wright, 62, was speaking on camera when stopped mid-sentence and turned to see Woods collapsing beside him. The ITV cameras panned out, revealing that Wright caught Woods at nearly the same time as Asante, 40, jumped into action to help pick her up.
“Are you OK,” Wright can be heard saying as the cameras go black. “I’m fine,” Woods replied.
The cameras quickly pivoted to a five-minute commercial break as the reporters figured out what transpired. When the broadcast returned, Woods had been replaced by Katie Shanahan, who said her coworker had been “taken ill but she’s in very good hands,” The Times reported.
“She’s in very good hands, so I’m stepping in at late notice,” Shanahan told viewers.
Shanahan gave another update on Woods during half-time, telling sports fans, “As you may all be aware, Laura Woods fell ill at the start of the program. We want to reassure you that she’s doing OK. We all send her our love.”

Woods’ fiancé, Adam Collard, a former Love Island UK contestant, also reassured fans that she was on the mend following the scare.
“Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages 🤍,” Collard wrote via X.
The ITV Football team, meanwhile, sent their love to Woods via X on Tuesday as well, writing, “Wishing you a speedy recovery, @laura_woodsy ❤️.”
