Tom Cruise was asked about his plans for Father’s Day in a slightly awkward interview moment.
“Father’s Day is just around the corner. What would an ideal Father’s Day look like for you?” an E! News reporter asked Cruise, 62, at the New York City premiere of Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.
Cruise looked off into the distance as he replied, “You know … Just having fun, man. Making movies, big adventure. Having a great time.”
Cruise adopted children Bella and Connor with ex-wife Nicole Kidman in 1992 and 1995, respectively. (Kidman and Cruise were married from 1990 to 2001.)
Years later, Cruise welcomed daughter Suri in 2006 with ex-wife Katie Holmes. The pair, who were engaged at the time, tied the knot shortly after Suri’s birth. Cruise and Holmes, now 46, announced their separation in 2012 after five years of marriage.
Holmes has made rare comments about parenthood through the years, opening up in 2020 about the challenges of being a single mother.
“That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it. [We] had some funny moments out and about in public,” she told InStyle at the time. “I feel like I can be more creative and have more time, have my voice.”
Holmes gushed that Suri — who goes by Suri Nicole instead of Suri Cruise based on her high school graduation program — has found her stride.
“[I want] to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it. She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality,” she continued. “She’ll pick an activity and work her butt off until she’s really good at it. Then she’s like, ‘OK, I’m going to try the next thing.’ She’s very focused and a hard worker.”
Four years later, Holmes made headlines when she denied that Suri had a trust fund from Cruise. “Completely false,” Holmes wrote via Instagram at the time. “You can stop making stuff up.” She captioned her post, “Enough.”
Since her split from Cruise, Holmes pursued a romance with Jamie Foxx from 2015 to 2019. She was also linked to Emilio Vitolo Jr. and Bobby Wooten III.
Cruise, for his part, has been spotted with Ana de Armas. A source recently told Us Weekly that the pair have gone on a few dates. “It’s low-key, still new and in the early stages,” the insider exclusively told Us. “Their romance is definitely on the down low.”
