The Justice League Problem DC Fans Complained About Is Finally Fixed

By Paul Davis 12/16/2025

The new DC Universe had a Justice League problem to deal with after how the franchise started, but a major reveal confirms that not only has James Gunn already fixed that issue, but an exciting door has been opened. The DCEU movie franchise is no more, with every actor from 2017's Justice League reportedly out as their DC heroes for the reboot.

At this time, the studio has yet to announce a new Justice League movie for the DCU's revealed slate of projects. However, 2025's Superman started to build to that with the debut of the Justice Gang. That said, fans formed a connection with the cast of the DCEU's superhero team, not just the characters, but Gunn also seems to have a solution for that.

The Supergirl Trailer Reveals The First Look At Jason Momoa's Lobo

The first trailer for DC's Supergirl movie has been released ahead of the film's June 26, 2026, release date. The footage mainly focuses on Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El, teasing her tragic Kryptonian backstory and the Sci-Fi tone of the movie. The action looks impressive, and Supergirl will meet formidable characters, like the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, and a certain Main Man.

The Supergirl trailer revealed Jason Momoa's Lobo debut. The actor is known for playing Aquaman in the old DCEU, a role that he now leaves behind to give life to the comic book character he has campaigned to play for many years. Momoa's Lobo looks absolutely pitch-perfect, sporting a design that makes it look like he really just stepped right out of the comics.

Why Jason Momoa's Lobo Reveal Fixes The DC Universe's Justice League Problem

James Gunn’s DC Universe Just Fixed Its Justice League Problem

After the first look at Momoa's Lobo, I believe the Supergirl trailer proves that James Gunn and the new DC Universe have fixed their Justice League problem. While Henry Cavill's removal from the Superman role was controversial, DC has found a way to bring back a fan-favorite Justice League actor to make up for it. Additionally, Momoa's Lobo looks even better than his Aquaman.

Both characters also look absolutely different, with Lobo possessing chalk white skin, while Aquaman was more human-like. Through that, the DCU finds a way to bring back other DCEU Justice League stars in new roles. Cavill himself could even potentially return to play a new DC character that looks nothing like Superman. Gunn previously said he discussed DCU roles with Cavill.

Despite his brief appearance in the Supergirl trailer, Lobo became a popular topic of discussion among fans after the footage dropped. It is clear that the fact that Momoa is coming back adds a level of excitement that just casting another actor as Lobo would not have been able to replicate. As such, Gunn has fixed his Justice League problem, and hopefully, more actors will return.
