Grab your house scarves and ready your wands, because the wizarding world is officially coming home.
The countdown to the highly anticipated Harry Potter th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special is officially on, and HBO Max just gave fans the ultimate holiday gift: a brand-new poster featuring the “Golden Trio” back where they belong.
The image shows Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson standing proudly in the middle of a festively decorated Great Hall, flanked by fellow fan favorites. The sight of the trio together again has already ignited a firestorm of nostalgia across X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, as Potterheads prepare for the New Year’s Day premiere.
While the poster is enough to make any fan misty-eyed, it’s Emma Watson’s emotional deep dive into her time as Hermione Granger that truly has the internet talking.
Taking to Instagram to share her excitement, Watson shared a heartfelt tribute that quickly went viral. “Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still is) my favorite fictional character of all time,” she wrote.
Reflecting on her decade spent in the franchise, she admitted she always knew how special the experience was. “I think a journalist once said it was irritating how many times during an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting… BUT I DAMN WELL KNEW!!!” she added.
Watson didn’t just stop at her own journey; she praised the “children that became young adults” alongside her. “I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people,” she shared, highlighting the kindness and support the group maintained behind the scenes.
The star-studded lineup for the special reads like a “who’s who” of wizarding royalty. Joining the main trio are Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, and Tom Felton, among many others.
According to Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics, this retrospective is more than just a trip down memory lane. “This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon,” he said in the original announcement.
As Watson noted in her post, the magic truly belongs to the fans. “Thank you for fighting to make it such an inclusive and loving place,” she told her millions of followers.
Harry Potter th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will be available to stream on New Year’s Day, Jan. , on HBO Max.
