‘The Big Bang Theory’ Fan-Favorite to Headline New European Mystery Series

The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco has landed her next TV role, starring alongside Sam Claflin in the European mystery series Vanished, where she will be tasked with piecing together clues to solve a missing persons case – and in this case, that missing person is her boyfriend. According to TVLine, the couple's romantic getaway to Paris is derailed when Claflin's character Tom disappears at some point during their train journey to the South of France, leaving Cuoco's Alice to pick up the pieces and attempt to solve the mystery.

If this was Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express (and we certainly hope for Tom's sake it isn't), it sounds like Alice would be the self-appointed Hercule Poirot of the investigation as she desperately tries to establish her partner's whereabouts. The official logline for the series suggests that Alice will have a difficult time getting the trip back on track, as it states that she will be "plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew," teasing twists and turns along the way.

The suspenseful series was created by David Hilton and Preston Thompson and also stars Karin Viard (The Bélier Family) and Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of the Dead). Their roles in the cast are currently as much of a mystery as the show itself. However, it is possible that they may be playing passengers or other roles aboard the train, or perhaps they will turn up at the final destination, or even factor into Tom's puzzling past, which audiences will presumably learn more about as each episode unravels.

Kaley Cuoco Has Proven She Is a Queen of the Small Screen

Kaley Cuoco as Penny in The Big Bang Theory

CBS

Cuoco is best known for playing Penny on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which spanned 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019, but she has also appeared on the small screen in a variety of other memorable roles. These include playing the title character in the HBO Max comedic thriller The Flight Attendant and voicing the delightfully unhinged Harley Quinn in Max's animated series about the DC Comics character. She also recently starred in two seasons of Based on a True Story, a dark comedy thriller on Peacock.

The actress has certainly demonstrated versatility and range across her roles over the years and her resume is continuing to expand with new projects all the time. Cuoco's next outing in Vanished does not yet have a network that will host it, but TVLine confirms that it is being co-produced and shopped around by AGC Studios. Production is set to begin in late April on locations in Paris and Marseilles, so rest assured, Cuoco is not going to be vanishing from your screens any time soon.
