Seth Rogen Sets the Record Straight on Those Emma Watson ‘Stormed Off Set’ Rumors: ‘She Was Probably Right’

By Edward Moore 03/07/2026

Seth Rogen is making one thing very clear: Emma Watson is a total pro.

The Pineapple Express star is finally addressing the long-standing urban legend that Watson “stormed off” the set of his directorial debut, This Is the End. After years of whispers, Rogen is setting the record straight about what happened during that infamous cannibal scene—and he’s taking the blame.

In a candid interview with British GQ for their May issue, the -year-old actor-director opened up about the moment Watson allegedly balked at a scene involving Danny McBride as a cannibal holding a masked Channing Tatum on a leash.

“I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?'” Rogen told the outlet. “I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was.”

While rumors at the time painted the Harry Potter alum as difficult, Rogen insists there is no bad blood. In fact, he revealed that Watson stayed classy throughout the entire ordeal.

“She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film,” he added. “No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”

After the interview sparked a firestorm on X (formerly Twitter), Rogen felt the need to further clarify his comments to ensure Watson wasn’t unfairly targeted by internet trolls. In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, he slammed the “unprofessional” narrative as “complete bulls—.”

“Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s sh—y that the perception is that she did,” Rogen wrote. He explained that the scene in question was being heavily improvised and had changed drastically from the original script she had signed on for.

“I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable position,” he admitted. “I’m very happy and impressed that she did [speak up]. We agreed on her not being in the scene together.”

Rogen even went as far as to say the movie benefited from her input. “She was probably right,” he noted. “It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”

Beyond the movie set drama, Rogen also got real with British GQ about his lifestyle changes. The star revealed he ditched heavy drinking about a decade ago in favor of recreational drug use, noting that he prefers “a quarter tab of molly” or a “weed lollipop” over a hangover.

“The next day I don’t have a hangover,” he shared. “I’m not throwing up. It’s just much better for me.”

Whether he’s navigating post-apocalyptic comedies or his own wellness journey, Rogen is clearly all about transparency these days. As for Watson? It sounds like the door is wide open for a future collaboration.

“I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again,” Rogen concluded.
