By Mohamed Jennifer Lawrence put a contemporary spin on maternity dressing on Sunday in Los Angeles at the 2024 Governors Awards, where honorary Oscar statues were awarded to influential figures in Hollywood who have made outstanding contributions in creative fields and humanitarian causes.
The actress arrived on the red carpet wearing a custom dress by Bottega Veneta from the upcoming pre-fall 2025 collection. The ruched, sleeveless brown floor-length dress was embellished with the brand’s signature drops across one shoulder and a matching piece that cinched around her baby bump. Lawrence is pregnant with her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, who she married in 2019. They welcomed their son Cy, named for artist Cy Twombly, in 2022.
Lawrence accessorized with the brand’s sculptural drop earrings in gold and a matching clutch done in another one of the brand’s signature elements, its intrecciato leather knot clutch.
Stylist Jamie Mizrahi, who works with Adele, Jeremy Allen White and Riley Keough, curated the look.
Most recently, Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy’s spring 2025 collection was described as “playful, experimental and at times dazzling” in a previous WWD review.
“In his zeal to experiment, some of Blazy’s propositions were clunky, especially the lopsided skirts that sprouted one pant leg,” WWD’s Miles Socha noted. “But then he would redeem himself with the chic of a simple white or black shift quivering with false-eyelash fringe; a ruched, one-sleeved dress in mango-colored jersey, or a voluminous, rust-colored top with a swooping leather neckline, finished off with a full white skirt and drop earrings.”
The 2024 Governors Awards will honor Quincy Jones, Juliet Taylor, Richard Curtis, and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their influential cinematic and humanitarian contributions. The 15th Governors Awards is sponsored by Rolex.
