Although Dua Lipa is from London, she was born to be a Texan. The Grammy Award-winning pop star expressed her love for the state's capital city in a new Vogue interview.
When asked by Vogue what was her favorite place she'd been to recently, Lipa immediately responded with a smile, "Austin, Texas." During her most recent visit in October, she got to explore the city's vibrant culture, food and even start a viral trend on TikTok.
"It's amazing. I love how vibrant the city is, it feels so alive," Lipa said. "The people are really nice, the food's really good. I loved going dancing at the honky-tonks, all of it, really, really fun."
Lipa told Vogue she first came to Austin in 2016 to perform at South by Southwest, but she hadn't been back since then. So, naturally when she was in town for two weeks this year to headline the Austin City Limits Music Festival, she made it a point to go all-out, Texas style.
During Weekend 1 of ACL, Lipa stopped at la Barbecue to try their Michelin-star worthy Texas barbecue. While there, she also went viral for making a TikTok concocting a spicy, sour Diet Coke drink with pickles and jalapeños which had people on the internet, including Gordon Ramsay itching to try.
Then, Lipa was spotted at Este taking photos with staff members and picking up a quick bite. After her ACL set on October 5, the "New Rules" singer danced the night away learning how to two-step at Austin's historic honky tonk, The Broken Spoke.
And during her last show at ACL Weekend 2, which also happened to be the same day Texas defeated Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, Lipa put on a customized Texas football jersey to show her unwavering pride for the city.
Dua, if you're reading this, please come back to Texas soon! We love you back!!
