The latest Ozark replacement series on Netflix has failed to capture the number one spot on the streamer's global streaming charts after trying for two consecutive weeks.
Wayward dethroned Wednesday season 2, which held the previous week's number one spot and prevented this Ozark replacement series from getting to the very top of Netflix's viewership charts.
Black Rabbit Has Missed Netflix's #1 Spot For 2 Weeks In A Row
Netflix's new crime thriller series Black Rabbit has fallen short once again on the streamer's global viewership charts. After failing to surpass Wednesday season 2 during its debut week, another new series prevented it from attaining the number one spot the following week.
Even though Black Rabbit has been a solid streaming hit for Netflix, it is unable to call itself the most-watched series on Netflix after ranking in the number 2 spot for two weeks in a row. Black Rabbit earned 6.6 million views in its first week, followed by 7.0 million views in its second week, for a total of 13.6 million views since it was released on September 18th.
While Netflix has introduced several new family-oriented crime dramas since Ozark ended in 2022, none have been more of a spiritual successor to the Emmy-winning series than Black Rabbit. Not only does the crime thriller star Jason Bateman, but it is also directed by three of Ozark's most celebrated directors, including Bateman, who won an Emmy for his work, his co-star Laura Linney, and Ben Semanoff.
Black Rabbit Is Still One Of Netflix's Most Viewed Series In September 2025

Even though Black Rabbit isn't as overwhelmingly popular as some might have projected it to be, it remains one of the most-viewed series on Netflix in September of this year. The recent 2025 Emmy Awards saw spikes in older series as well, especially the groundbreaking hit Adolescence, so this may have contributed to why Black Rabbit couldn't achieve number one status on Netflix.
Once again, Netflix's viewership charts prove to be a force of their own, since Black Rabbit is more critically acclaimed than Wayward, but the latter series still pulled in more viewership. There's still a chance that Black Rabbit can rally to claim the top spot on Netflix's streaming charts in its third week, but the upcoming release of Monster season 3 this Friday may make that effort next to impossible.
