Who would have believed that a small amount of practice in archery could lead to such a radical change in one’s body? Now, for Jennifer Lawrence, it was quite real. The transition to an activist’s figure was made by the popular Hollywood actress when training for the shooting of the film, The Hunger Games.
The constant utilization of bow and arrows by action heroines was perhaps initiated by The Hunger Games of 2012. Katniss, with her skills in handling a bow, not only creates a strong and independent character, but also influences many girls to take up archery.
As for the rest, Jennifer Lawrence didn’t just pick up bow and arrows for the movie; she went and became a proficient master at it. During the training that was supervised by Olympic medalist Khatuna Lorig, Lawrence went through a strict schedule that changed her body permanently.

By the time she got out of the truck, her shoulders were two inches wider and her right arm had been stretched out an inch. Lawrence revealed on NPR’s Fresh Air:
I really, really enjoyed archery. I had an amazing instructor, Khatuna. She was Georgian. She was an excellent instructor — very, very strict. If I had bad form, she would pinch my ear. She didn’t really put up with anything.
It totally changed my body. It was so crazy, when I went back for the fitting for the second movie for ‘Catching Fire,’ my shoulders were two inches broader and my right arm is one inch longer than my left arm, permanently, I guess. But I really enjoy it.
But Lawrence wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. She loved the challenge of learning archery and found her instructor to be incredibly demanding. Despite the tough love, the actress’ training paid off. Her archery skills were on full display in The Hunger Games and helped her become one of the most iconic action heroines of her generation.
