Mika Brzezinski supported her husband, Joe Scarborough, as he took the stage for a recent musical performance in New York City. The Morning Joe cohost shared videos and photos from her husband’s gig in a post on Instagram.
She wrote in her caption, “#MorningJoe at Night — at the CITY WINERY in New York City along with a great conversation with a renowned photographer the great @markseliger and his band @rustytruckband — it was so wonderful to see so many friends and to just have fun! Thank you to the MJatNite band!!”
Mika, 57, was joined by Morning Joe cohost Willie Geist in the crowd as they watched Joe, 62, take the stage with a band. One video showed the group on stage singing “Proud Mary” as the crowd was up on their feet dancing. In another video, Willie, 49, flashing a peace sign to the camera while jamming out to the music in his seat.
“Some of my best times were having fun with co-workers after work!” one person commented on the post.
“So happy to see some good times happening,” a second person commented.
“Wish I was there. Looked like an amazing night,” a third person wrote.
“Wonderful. Music and Conversations,” another said.
Many fans were not so used to seeing Joe take the stage to play music, as they’ve come to know him as the man with the stern demeanor on Morning Joe each day. The MSNBC host has been a musician for decades in addition to his political career and broadcasting.
In August 2024, Mika shared a video of Joe singing his song “No Guarantees” during an episode of Morning Mika.
“My husband, Joe Scarborough, is, as you may know, a musician. But you may not know the background,” she told viewers. “Joe grew up in the deep south in church communities. His mother had a master’s in music and worked as a music director and organist at churches while Joe was growing up. She taught him piano in between his own church practices and bible studies.”
“He always loved writing rock songs, but it was gospel music from both White and Black churches that came most naturally to him as a writer,” the Know Your Value founder continued. “He’s kind of private about this music. But when I heard a song that he recorded this summer called ‘No Guarantees,’ I forced him to record and tape the song about standing up and doing what needs to be done to save democracy.”
The segment was posted on the show’s YouTube account, with many people blown away by Joe’s singing and others shocked by his hidden talent.
“Tears of hope and joy while listening to a song written and performed by Morning Joe was not on my 2024 bingo card, yet here I am,” one person commented on the video.
“So beautifully done! That’s another side of Joe I didn’t know. Happy I saw this today,” another person said.
“OMG!!! This just blessed my soul!! Who knew that Joe Scarborough had such a phenomenal hidden talent!! This song should be heard by the entire nation!! In times like these, we need this type of inspiration! Thank you, Mika, for sharing!!” said another.
