Mary Cosby is finally addressing why her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., isn’t featured on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City anymore.
“He’s good. He’s a man and they hold grudges,” Mary, 51, shared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Wednesday, October 9. “But once he gets over his grudge, he’ll be better and he’ll probably show his face.”
Mary noted that he is upset with the producers of RHOSLC — but not Andy Cohen himself.
“He loves you,” she gushed, adding that he doesn’t “trust” the other producers. “He doesn’t want them to give [Andy] bad press.”
Mary married Robert — her step-grandfather — in 1998. (Robert was the second husband of Mary’s late grandmother. Mary and Robert share son Robert Jr., 21.)
Mary has previously opened up about her unconventional marriage to Robert.
“I think it started changing into a loving relationship when I started wanting a son … probably two [or] three years into the marriage,” Mary told Us Weekly in January 2021. “I think that’s when I felt that I knew that this was my life, once I started having that craving [to be] a mom and [have] a family. … I have no regrets, I have no shame.”
Since the debut of RHOSLC, fans have had thoughts on Mary’s marriage and their church where Mary and Robert Sr. have leadership — but Mary said she tries to “not put emotion” into the negativity.
“In my mind, I’m not here to make sense. I’m here to tell you, ‘This is what Mary is and this is what I’m about,’” she shared with Us. “And this is my story and you don’t have to accept it again.”
After some time off and appearing as a “friend” on season 4, Mary is back as a full-time Housewife on season 5 of RHOSLC, which is currently airing. Costar Heather Gay noted that fans will see Mary take on more of a “ringleader” role in the group this season.
“She had to talk me onto the zip line. She had to talk me through my fear of the mud pit,” Gay, 50, shared with Us in September. “You will see a new Mary this season, and a really engaged Mary. I think everyone’s in for a big surprise.”
Heather added that viewers will also see her and Mary try to heal old wounds and move forward together.
“You’ll see Mary and I working on things, like repairing the mean things we said to each other over the years and finding a place where we can move forward,” she noted. “I always wanna be in a good place with Mary. And that’s what makes Mary so exciting is because it can change on a dime, you know? So, I think she keeps me on my toes, but we’re in a really good place right now and I hope we stay there.”
Aside from Gay and Mary, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose and Angie Katsenevas are also returning to RHOSLC season 5 joined by newcomers Bronwyn Newport, Britani Bateman and Meili Workman.
