Keith Urban‘s divorce from Nicole Kidman got complicated very quickly when rumors of an alleged affair with his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, entered the conversation. Now, Baugh’s bestie is debunking the allegations.

Country singer Alexandra Kay appeared on the Taste of Country Nights podcast on Oct. 22 to shut down the rumored tea. She’s confirming that there was never a romantic relationship between Urban and Baugh.

“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say … They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true,'” Kay explained.

Kay also wanted to remind everyone that Baugh isn’t single either. She continued. “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole relationship [with Urban]. I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life. I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”

Baugh got ensnared in the 57-year-old’s divorce drama from Kidman because he started changing the lyrics in his song, “The Fighter,” to refer to her. The single was originally written for Urban’s estranged wife, so the timing of the changes couldn’t have been worse.

The original lyric was, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.” On that particular night, Urban sang to Baugh, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.” The 25-year-old musician posted the clip on her Instagram page, accompanied by two emojis on the video: “🫣 🤯.” She also wrote in the caption, “Did he just say that👀.”

With TMZ reporting that there was “another woman” who came between Urban and Kidman, all eyes fell on Baugh. Urban tried to stop the rumors on his own during an Oct. 17 tour stop in Nashville. “I’ve been covering like this for a long time. Stop reading s— into it. It’s called ‘You’ll Think of Me,’ ” he said of his frequent lyric changes, per a fan’s TikTok video.

Baugh may be collateral damage in Urban and Kidman’s A-list divorce, since no one saw the split coming. The affair allegations have never been confirmed, so Baugh is lucky to have a friend like Kay come to her rescue at such a sensitive time.
