Katy Perry has been slammed after releasing her latest music video, and now she's come to her own defense.
The popstar released her music video for her latest single Woman's World – a song that has been marketed as a feminist anthem – and fans claim she completely missed the mark.
However, where many are claiming Perry's effort is "what a feminist video clip would look like if made by a guy," she says that's kind of the point.
She posted a video to Twitter on Sunday alongside the caption, "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! EVEN SATIRE!"

In the clip, Perry explained the intention behind the video was in fact to be a satiric take on the surface-level view many have when it comes to feminism.
"We're kind of just having fun, being a bit sarcastic with it, it's very slapstick and very on the nose," she explained.
"And with this set, it's like, 'Oh, we're not about the male gaze' but we really are about the male gaze and we're really overplaying it and on the nose."
Perry described the video as a "reset for my idea of feminine divine," explaining she also wanted to make something that looked like a "super high gloss popstar video."
On YouTube, the music video has been flooded with negative comments regarding the singer's take on feminism, with some commenters not understanding the satiric intent and others understanding but not agreeing with the way it was done.
"This feels like a parody of feminism gone wrong," read one comment.

"This feels like AI's concept of feminism," said another.
However, not all of Perry's fans have turned against her – plenty enjoyed the music video and made it known in the comments.
"Queen of satire," on commenter wrote. "They can never make me hate you."
