Katy Perry is making a huge comeback next month.
The celebrated pop icon has announced her long-awaited return to the music industry with “Woman’s World” — her first musical release since her 2020 album Smile. Perry made the announcement on her official social media pages by sharing the single’s eye-catching lead artwork, alongside a fifteen-second snippet of the track.
“Woman’s World” is the lead single off her forthcoming record, which she has teased as ‘KP6,’ and is scheduled to be released on all digital and streaming platforms on July 11, 2024. It will be accompanied by a special music video that will be dropped on July 12, with pre-orders and pre-save links already available via her official website.
To clue her fans in on what to expect from this new era of hers, Perry posted a short video of herself dancing along to the snippet of “Woman’s World,” with the singer embodying its fierce and empowering lyrics with every move on screen. Late last May, the pop star concluded her run on the hit talent show American Idol, wherein she served as a judge for a total of seven seasons. Almost immediately after her departure from the series, Perry wasted no time in pivoting towards her KP6 era by changing her social media profile pic to a sleek, futuristic silver logo on a deep red background, with her shiny initials floating inside a pair of parentheses.
Though still unnamed, ‘KP6’ is her sixth studio album that follows Smile, Witness, Prism, Teenage Dream, and her debut album One Of The Boys. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Perry described it as her “happiest album to date,” stating, “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love. Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”
