Jennifer Lawrence Joins Second A24 Project in Less Than a Month

Academy Award-winning actor Jennifer Lawrence secures another collaboration with A24. Lawrence will feature in a new comedy film, based on Paul B. Rainey's graphic novel, Why Don't You Love Me?.

Per Deadline, Lawrence will star in and produceWhy Don't You Love Me?, with the adaptation written by On Becoming a God in Central Florida's Robert Funke. Lawrence will co-produce through her Excellent Cadaver imprint alongside A24 and Square Peg, with Rainey acting as executive producer. No director has been confirmed for the movie as yet.

Published by Rainey in 2023, Why Don't You Love Me? chronicles a couple struggling through their marriage as they try to figure out the root of their issues. For Lawrence, Why Don't You Love Me? is the second A24 project she's signed onto in less than a month, having boarded the planned murder mystery, The Wives, which takes inspiration from the popular Real Housewives reality show franchise. The Wives is a collaboration between A24 and Apple Original Films, with Lawrence also producing that movie.

Jennifer Lawrence Has Two A24 Movies In the Works Following No Hard Feelings

Lawrence's last film feature was in the Sony sex comedy, No Hard Feelings, starring alongside Matthew Broderick, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Matthew Broderick. No Hard Feelings was Lawrence's most critically acclaimed movie since taking a mini-hiatus from acting in 2019, earning her a Golden Globe nomination and a People's Choice Award win.

Fans best know Lawrence from her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in the popular The Hunger Games film franchise. She didn't feature in the recent prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, though her song from The Hunger Games film series was used to promote the movie. Lawrence also portrayed Raven Darkhölme/Mystique in the X-Men film franchise, including First ClassDays of Future PastApocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Her most acclaimed role came thanks to her lead role in 2012's Silver Linings Playbook, which won her the Best Actor Oscar.

A24 has recently been busy with planned projects. These include the upcoming sports drama, The Smashing Machine, which sees Dwayne Johnson star as the titular mixed martial arts legend, Mark Kerr, and the High and Low remake helmed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington. Additionally, A24 released the trailer for its horror pic, The Front Room, which stars singer/actor Brandy Norwood and premieres on Sept. 6.
