Jennifer Lawrence Is Poised To Replace Leonardo DiCaprio As Martin Scorsese’s Go-To Actor

By William Davis 02/04/2026

Although Jennifer Lawrence is lined up to star in Martin Scorsese's highly anticipated Frank Sinatra biopic, this film isn't even the most exciting project coming from the actor-director duo. In 2012, Jennifer Lawrence dazzled Hollywood by taking on the title role in The Hunger Games franchise. Throughout the 2010s, Lawrence continued racking up roles alongside notable actors and directors such as Bradley Cooper, David O. Russell, and Darren Aronofsky. In more recent years, Lawrence's movie roles have slowed down, but it seems that she will be making a dramatic return alongside legendary director Martin Scorsese.

One of Lawrence's most exciting upcoming projects is Martin Scorsese's Frank Sinatra biopic. In April 2024, just months after releasing his critically acclaimed crime film, Killers of the Flower Moon, Scorsese announced his intention to make a Frank Sinatra biopic. Notably, Sinatra was one of the most lauded singers and entertainers of the 20th century, known for his crooning voice and striking looks. While Sinatra himself will be played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Sinatra's second wife and popular actress, Ava Gardner, will be played by Lawrence. However, in a shocking turn of events, this isn't even Lawrence's best upcoming Scorsese collaboration.

Jennifer Lawrence & Martin Scorsese's Most Exciting New Project Is Die, My Love

How Die, My Love Compares To Lawrence's Past Roles

Before their Frank Sinatra biopic, Jennifer Lawrence and Martin Scorsese are working on Die, My Love. With Scorsese producing and Lawrence as the star, this dark comedy project follows a woman who struggles with postpartum depression and her failing marriage in the French countryside. The movie is a based on a 2017 novel of the same name by Ariana Harwicz. Alongside Lawrence, Die, My Love's cast includes Robert Pattinson and LaKeith Stanfield. Lynne Ramsay of You Were Never Really Here and We Need To Talk About Kevin will direct.

As much as the Frank Sinatra biopic is an exciting venture, Die, My Love may be even better. Mostly, this is because Lawrence's role in Die, My Love perfectly aligns with her best performances over the years. Lawrence may be well-known for her big parts, such as Katniss Everdeen, yet her true bread and butter is female protagonists struggling with their circumstances and mental health. In movies like Joy, Mother!, American Hustle, and Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence has aced playing women who become erratic as their lives fall apart. Die, My Love is sure to be a similar hit.
