In an interview with Playboy via UK’s Marie Claire, the Your Body is A Wonderland singer claimed that their 8-year age gap was too much for him to handle. He also added that her lack of technological savvy had been an issue. While the 55-year-old star could have shot back, she took the high road and told Vogue that he was actually a nice guy.
He (Mayer) had to put that out there that he broke up with me. And especially because it’s me. It’s not just some girl he’s dating. I get it. We’re human. There was no malicious intent.
The actress continued, “I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that’s where it is.” Although Aniston seemed to be making excuses for the singer’s controversial behavior, it looks like the two have chosen to leave the past behind them.
In fact, even after Mayer had publically aired their dirty laundry, so to speak, the Murder Mystery star still stayed in touch with him.

In a 2020 interview with US Weekly, a source shed light on their friendship.

The insider even emphasized, “There is definitely no weirdness between them.” The revelation came as no surprise. After all, Aniston had managed to stay friends with Theroux and even the once-insensitive Pitt. Although her friendship with the 53-year-old might have been easier to maintain, she still put the drama with Angelina Jolie aside to make up with the Bullet Train star.
Aniston’s love life might just prove that sometimes things don’t work out. However, there is no reason to hinder the friendship with someone you once loved. Although, that might not apply to everyone.
