Kate Gosselin’s boyfriend, Steve Neild, signed his divorce papers over a year before news broke that he is dating the former TLC star, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On September 29, 2023, Steve filed for divorce from his longtime wife, Gina Neild, in Maryland.
In the filing, obtained by Us, he listed the date of marriage as September 22, 1990, noting that they wed in a ceremony in Auckland, New Zealand. The two share two sons: Kristopher and Michael.
In his filing, Steve said he executed a divorce settlement with Gina on September 18, 2023, that resolved all issues, including waiver of alimony and division of property.
He noted, “There is no reasonable hope or expectation of reconciliation between the parties.”
Gina filed her answer to the divorce on the same day Steve filed his divorce. She did not dispute any of the statements made in his paperwork.
On November 17, 2023, the court signed off on Steve and Gina’s divorce settlement.
As Us previously reported, Gosselin announced she had a boyfriend on September 22 during a TikTok Q&A.
After being asked if she was currently dating, the reality star said, “The answer to that question is actually, finally, yes. I am dating somebody for the past year to a little over a year, maybe like 14, 15 months.” Based on the statement, the romance began in the summer of 2024. She did not name him at the time.
She added, “I am super, super happy. It’s somebody that I’ve known for a really long time and I am very, very happy.”
She told fans that her boyfriend would not be making too many appearances on social media.
Kate explained, “He doesn’t really want to be on TikToks. Can’t blame him really I guess, but you perhaps will catch a peep of him here and there or once in a while going forward.”
On September 30, Kate reportedly revealed on TikTok that her boyfriend’s name was Steve. (Page Six has also reported that they are dating.) Kate spoke to fans during a livestream while in a hospital room following a surgery, according to Parade. The outlet said Kate mentioned she was in the room with her boyfriend.
Kate said she was injured after her dog Meika “ran into me full-speed,” which resulted in a “life-altering” injury to her knee.
Kate split from her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, in 2009 after 10 years of marriage. The exes share eight children: twin daughters Cara and Mady, 25, and sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Joel, Aaden, Alexis and Leah, 21.
Over the years, Steve was often seen by Kate’s side at public appearances. Rumors swirled that Kate and Steve had something going on but she denied the accusations.
On September 24, Jon posted a screenshot of the Page Six article confirming Kate and Steve were dating. He said, “Guess who really ruined the marriage.”
Collin, who has been estranged from his mother, took to social media to back up his father.
“What really upsets me is that my mom had an affair with our bodyguard way back in 2009 and for years would share hotel rooms with him while we went on family vacations, while I was in a connected room!” he wrote. “Now everyone thinks her being with him is some cute novel romance. By the way my dad received death threats and got shunned by the public for years for ‘having an affair’ and ‘leaving his kids.’”
