Having already scored poor reviews with her first collaboration at the streamer, the Heart of Stone Rotten Tomatoes score has continued a negative Gal Gadot Netflix streak. The action thriller stars Gadot as a member of the secret intelligence agency The Charter whose work undercover in MI6 is upended when her fellow team member is revealed to be working with a woman who wants to use The Charter's powerful A.I. for her own means. Alongside Gadot, the cast for Heart of Stone includes Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, and Matthias Schweighöfer.
As the movie comes to Netflix, the Rotten Tomatoes score for Heart of Stone has dropped and critics are slamming the James Bond-like thriller. At the time of writing, the Gal Gadot-led movie has a 30 percent approval rating from critics on the review aggregate based on 67 reviews. This marks the second straight poorly reviewed Netflix movie for Gadot after Red Notice, which holds a 37 percent.
Why Heart of Stone's Reviews Are So Negative
Critics have largely taken issue with Heart of Stone's story and script, feeling it too generic and having conflicting ideals of its AI concept, praising it at the start and then lambasting it as a weapon as the movie goes on. Many reviews have further indicated it to be a continuation of Netflix's inability to produce a worthwhile big budget actioner, with Gadot's own Red Notice being on said poorly reviewed lists alongside the likes of Jennifer Lopez's The Mother, Michael Bay's 6 Underground and the Ryan Gosling-led The Gray Man.
Situated within Heart of Stone's negative reviews, however, is praise for Gadot's performance in the movie, with many critics assuring she remains an entertaining action star to watch. Given Red Notice overcame its negative reception to garner decent responses from audiences and was enough of a ratings success to earn a back-to-back sequel greenlight, Gadot's new venture could still garner enough of an interest from fans of the actor to see it enjoy some success.
The previously mentioned The Mother similarly enjoyed some success with viewers in spite of its more mixed reviews, pushing Martin Scorsese's The Irishman out of Netflix's Top 10 of English-language movies. In the lead up to its release, Gadot was very passionate about Heart of Stone and her hopes for how it could change the spy action genre, namely as it comes with audiences still desiring for a female-led James Bond movie after No Time to Die introduced two worthy successors in Lashana Lynch's Nomi and Ana de Armas' Paloma.
