Salma Hayek gave a memorable performance alongside Angelina Jolie in Marvel Studios’ Eternals. The duo reunited again in Jolie’s latest directorial, Without Blood which premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. While the film’s reception has been mixed, Hayek has raised headlines for calling her MCU co-star the best actor-director in her career.

Besides being one of the most popular actresses, Angelina Jolie has also been a frequent filmmaker. Her latest starring Salma Hayek and Demián Bichir is based on Italian director Alessandro Baricco’s novel by the same name.

Angelina Jolie has repeatedly tried her filmmaking skills in several war epics. As she worked with her longtime friend Salma Hayek in the latest Without Blood, the actor cum director was showered with praise by the latter at the film’s premiere.
During a conversation with People, Salma Hayek could not stop talking about her bond with Brad Pitt’s ex and revealed that she does “things together as a family” with Jolie. Despite being very close, Hayek admitted that she was surprised by the Maleficent actress’ warmth and generosity as a director to her crew members.
I was surprised, even though we are very close and stuff, but I was [surprised by] how warm and generous and kind she was as a director to the actors. I felt like she was my motherly figure because she would come to the set and run it like a family. She was a very efficient mother, but she was also there emotionally every step of the way.
Salma Hayek has worked with some renowned directors. Nevertheless, she claimed that none of them were as understanding as Angelina Jolie. The Desperado actress opined that being an actress herself, Jolie knew what her team would require. As per Deadline, Hayek openly stated that her Eternals co-star “Is the best actor director I’ve worked with.“
Following Eternals, this was the first professional reunion between the two actresses. However, it will certainly not be their last.

Salma Hayek has also made a name for herself as an actress and a producer. Now it looks like she will also try her hands in directing. According to People, Angelina Jolie may produce Hayek’s directorial debut.
The 58-year-old actress has not revealed much about her plans for her directorial debut. It is also unsure if Angelina Jolie will also star in the film but it looks like Hayek will soon step into direction with the help from her best friend.
I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this. She’s producing my next film that I’m directing. I wasn’t really supposed to tell you that, but why not? So I’m working on a film that I want to direct, and she’s taking me by the hand.
It will be exciting to see if Salma Hayek can also be an efficient filmmaker. As it is still in the discussion phase, we may still have to wait longer for the plan to come to fruition. On the other hand, it will be also exciting to see if we get to see them on-screen together in some other venture.
