Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler returned to play Nick and Audrey Spitz in the 2023 sequel to their film, Murder Mystery. The long-time friends had fun on the set as it was their third collaboration. However, Sandler found one thing frustrating about filming scenes with Aniston. He jokingly shared that the FRIENDS actress was terrible in the kissing scenes between them.
Murder Mystery 2 gained as much popularity as its prequel and both the actors bagged hefty paychecks for their roles. In the film, the Spitz couple tries to launch their private-eye agency after successfully solving the yacht murder in the first film.

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler were paired together in Murder Mystery 2 for the third time after Just Go With It and Murder Mystery. They were friends for a long time which made it awkward for them to keep kissing each other romantically in the film. During an interview with USA Today, Sandler joked about one thing during these kissing scenes that he couldn’t tolerate.
According to the Uncut Gems actor, Aniston kept her mouth wide open during the kissing scenes. He recalled telling her to keep them closed so as to not make the kiss more awkward than it already was. He shared with USA Today:
‘For God’s sake, keep your mouth closed.’ It was so wide! Every time, she’d come with a big, wide mouth, and I’d be like, ‘Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho, whoa! What are we doing?’
Aniston also shared about her experience filming the kissing scenes. She shared that she would ask him to apply beard oil to prep for their kissing scenes. During another interview with AP, Sandler shared that the scenes were made more awkward when his wife Jackie and children showed up on set.
He shared that Jackie Sandler would be on the sidelines, encouraging him to kiss his co-star. Sandler shared that his wife and kids loved the pairing and loved Aniston. The 50 First Dates actor shared with the outlet:
The only awkward part is hearing my wife on the side going, ‘Harder! Harder! Kiss her harder! Deeper!’ They (Jackie and the kids) watched the kissing. They love it. They love Aniston, and they want her to have good things and they say, ‘Give her something nice.’
According to an engagement report released by Netflix for 2023, subscribers across the world spent a total of 173 million hours watching the film. The film was a Netflix Top 10 in 90 different countries and was the streamer’s fifth most-watched film of 2023.

During an interview with PEOPLE, Jennifer Aniston shared about her friendship with Adam Sandler. She shared that she always knew they would have fun together as they trusted each other. She shared that they had each other’s back and had a deep respect for one another. The Morning Show actress shared:
Yes, there’s trust. We trust each other and we know that we’re going to have a good time. We have each other’s back. We take care of each other. Neutral, deep respect for each other. It’s the consistency of who he is and the wonderful time we always have together.
They appeared together for an interview with ET where Sandler described a similar experience with Aniston. She told the actress that she made him feel cared for on the set of Murder Mystery 2. He shared:
You certainly have a way of making life fun on the set, you are caring. You care about how I am doing…if I am enjoying my life [and] if I am healthy.
