Flight Attendant’s Kaley Cuoco says filming season 2 was “24/7 depression”

The Flight Attendant star Kaley Cuoco has revealed that she was in a constant state of depression during filming for the second season.

The HBO show follows Cassie Bowden (Cuoco), who in the first season wakes up from a night of heavy drinking to discover a dead body beside her, with the flight attendant subsequently opting to clean up the scene instead of calling the police.

The follow-up season sees Cassie attempt to piece together a mystery involving an assassination in Berlin, with the perpetrator resembling her, even down to a custom tattoo.

Despite both seasons receiving critical acclaim, Cuoco revealed to CinemaBlend that filming the second season came at a delicate time in her personal life, which included her separation from husband Karl Cook.

"I've done so much light-hearted comedy stuff … I'm not that type of actor where I get too stuck in it," she began. "I usually can separate [personal and professional life]. I do feel like probably the weirdest year of TV that for me was season two of Flight Attendant.

"I had so much stuff going on in my personal life. It wasn't that I brought it home with me but … but that character was so messed up, and I personally felt so messed up. So it felt like it was just 24/7 depression, in a way.

"It was like, ‘God, oh my goodness. I'm sad. She's sad.' So that felt a little like, all-encompassing. So when I came out of that, and I kind of find myself again. But that was definitely one [period] that was like, a big sigh of relief, you know, to like, put that down."

Cuoco spoke with the outlet alongside David Oyelowo ahead of the release of movie Role Play, which sees the pair play a married couple on the run across Europe after Cuoco's character is discovered to be an internationally-wanted contract killer.
