Cathy Moriarty was a blonde bombshell who co-starred with Robert De Niro in the 1980 film Raging Bull.

The star played a sexy pinup who showed off her figure and movie star looks, an image that was burned into the memory of theater goers.  

Cathy received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her efforts.

After Raging Bull she had many more hit films like Neighbors (1981), White of the Eye (1987), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Soapdish (1991), Matinee (1993), Casper (1995), Cop Land (1997), But I’m a Cheerleader (1999), Analyze That (2002), The Bounty Hunter (2010), The Double (2013), and Patti Cake$ (2017). 

Cathy made a rare appearance on Thursday evening in New York City.

The star looked youthful when she attended the opening night for the play My First Ex-Husband at the MMAC Theater in New York City. She also posed with Susan Lucci.

The New Yorker was also seen in several TV shows.

She popped up on Tales from the Crypt (1992), Hey Arnold! (1997–1999), Law & Order (2001), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2005–2014), Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2010), I'm Dying Up Here (2017), This Is Us (2018), The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (2018), City on a Hill (2019), and HouseBroken (2021).

She is from the Bronx in New York City, just like Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B.

Moriarty made her film debut in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull (1980), as Vikki LaMotta, wife of boxer Jake LaMotta, played by Robert De Niro. 

Next Moriarty played John Belushi's neighbor in Neighbors and stood out opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop.

She played on her sexy image with Soapdish which also starred Sally Field, Robert Downey Jr and Teri Hatcher.

In the 90s Moriarty played Lois opposite Debra Winger and Billy Crystal in the romantic comedy Forget Paris and made waves with Andrew Dice Clay in the CBS series Bless This House.

She also won acclaim for playing Angelina Jolie's mother in Foxfire.

And another highlight was playing Mary Stuart Masterson and Evan Rachel Wood's  alcoholic mother in Digging to China.

One of her more interesting roles was playing Sharon Stone's best friend in the 1999 Sidney Lumet film Gloria, a  remake of the 1980 film from John Cassavetes. 

Cathy also played on her bombshell image in Crazy in Alabama and But I'm a Cheerleader.

And she brought laughs in the Mafia comedy film Analyze That, the sequel to 1999's Analyze This, with De Niro.

After Analyze That, Moriarty took a break from acting to raise her children.  In 2010, she came back in the Jennifer Aniston film The Bounty Hunter.  Then came Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn and The Double.

Moriarty was wed to theatrical manager Carmine D'Anna from 1981 until 1992. She was engaged to Richie Palmer, but then he began dating Raquel Welch in 1997; she died in 2023.

In 1999, Moriarty wed financier Joseph Gentile.
