Brian Austin Green is reflecting on the one thing he did that really bothered ex-wife Megan Fox.
“It annoyed Megan when you chewed because she thought she could hear you,” Tori Spelling recalled while talking with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar during the Tuesday, October 29, episode of her “MisSpelling” podcast. “I remember thinking at the time like, ‘How bad could it be? Like she loves him, that really bothers her.’”
Green, 51, said that he doesn’t remember exactly when this particular issue began.
“I honestly think that the chewing thing was just, like, she’d gotten to the point, I think, where things just weren’t great,” he said. “Everything was annoying her.”
He continued, “You kind of get to that point where you’re like, just the way you’re shuffling your feet right now, the way you’re putting that toast in the toaster is just driving me crazy. It’s all that stupid little stuff.”
Green said that in these types of relationships when “every little thing” starts to be an issue, it’s time to reevaluate.
“That to me is when you have to make the choice of going, ‘OK, we either are going to go into therapy, and we’re going to try and find our connection and figure out what’s going on now,’ he continued. “These things are going to sink us. They’re going to be the death of us because they just build up and build up and get worse and worse and worse.”
Green and Fox, 38, experienced a series of ups and downs in the public eye. Green met Fox, 38, in 2004 on the set of Hope & Faith when she was 18 years old and started dating that year. The former couple was engaged by November 2006 but called off their wedding three years later. They eventually reconciled and got married in 2010. Fox first filed for divorce in August 2015 and the case was dismissed by 2019.
In May 2020, however, Green confirmed that they had broken up for good. Fox filed for divorce again that November and their split was finalized in February 2022. They share custody of three kids, Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 6. (Green is also the father of Kassius, 22, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil.)
While Fox and Green aren’t together, they’ve spoken at length about what went wrong in their relationship. Earlier this year, the Jennifer’s Body actress admitted she was “not great” while married to Green.
“I think it would be easy for me to lean into and complain about, or let it seem like that relationship was one way,” Fox said on “Call Her Daddy” in March. “I was not great because I was young and really should not have been in a relationship of that level of commitment and that magnitude.”
