Gervonta “Tank” Davis is back in the headlines after the WBA lightweight champ was arrested Friday in Miami Beach, Florida, on a misdemeanor battery charge following a heated altercation involving the mother of two of his children.
According to police, the situation jumped off on June 15 when Davis pulled up to his ex-girlfriend’s spot to pick up their kids. Things reportedly went left after a verbal dispute over “personal matters and Gervonta having insecurities about the sexuality of their son,” per the official report. After the children were placed in Davis’ vehicle, she claims the boxer struck her in the back of the head with a closed fist and then slapped her in the face.

The arrest, made nearly a month later, adds another layer to a growing list of legal issues for the 29-year-old Baltimore native. The woman involved told police that after retrieving custody of her kids, Davis got agitated and began revving his engine at her in a threatening manner. She managed to de-escalate and later sought medical attention at a nearby hospital.
Tank was booked and later released after posting a $10,000 bond. He’s now scheduled to appear in court on July 29.
This isn’t the first time Davis’ name has been tied to domestic violence. Back in December 2022, he was arrested in a separate incident after allegedly hitting a woman with a “closed hand type slap,” though those charges were later dropped.
