Growing Up Hogwarts: Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson Get Candid About Teen Dating, ‘Alarmingly Normal’ Lives, and Those Replacement Rumors

By Robert Williams 03/07/2026

It’s the summer of all over again! A deep-dive into the archives of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban press tour is currently blowing up on social media, reminding fans everywhere why they first fell in love with the trio who lived.

While thousands of “stalwart fans” braved -degree New York City heat outside Radio City Music Hall just to catch a glimpse of their idols, the two -year-old leads were busy proving they might be the most “alarmingly normal” teenagers in Hollywood history.

In the viral clips and quotes resurfacing on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson get refreshingly honest about the “unenviable task” of going through puberty in front of the entire world.

When asked if the global fame has changed him, Daniel is quick to shrug it off. “It hasn’t affected me,” he says. “I’m kind of just going through what every other teenager is going through.”

Of course, “every other teenager” isn’t usually pursued by fans traveling all the way from Ontario just for a chance to meet them. When the conversation turned to the dating department, Daniel couldn’t help but give a “wry smile.”

“Honestly, I’m sure both of us notice members of the opposite sex because we’re… I’m ,” he admits, adding with a laugh that the attention “maybe a bit” helps his cause. “I’m not complaining!”

Sitting right beside him, a giggling Emma Watson shared the secret to their grounded nature: keeping it real. Unlike the “wild party” reputation of child stars past, Emma revealed her life is surprisingly low-key.

“Between every single film, I always go back to school and see my friends. I do everything I used to. I play sports. I go to teenage parties,” she explains. And for those wondering about her Harry Potter millions? “All my money is locked away in a bank until I’m . I won’t see it until then.”

The duo also opened up about the darker, more “teen angst” driven tone of the third film. Daniel admitted he used music to get into Harry’s “anger and loneliness,” focusing so hard on a scene with the CGI Dementors that Emma reveals he “almost fainted” from the intensity.

But perhaps the most emotional part of the look-back is hearing the stars discuss the then-rumor that they might be replaced for the final films as they got older.

“It would be really very hard to watch someone else play the part I think,” Daniel says uneasily. Emma echoed the sentiment, expressing how “incredibly lucky” she felt to be there at all.

While we now know they stayed until the very end, seeing their “go with the flow” attitude at just years old is giving Potterheads all the feels. It turns out, the real magic wasn’t just on screen—it was in how they stayed so sweet-natured in the middle of a media blizzard.
