Seth Rogen Sets the Record Straight on Emma Watson ‘This Is the End’ Rumors: ‘She Was Not Unprofessional’

Seth Rogen is officially putting the “magic” back into his professional relationship with Emma Watson.

The Pineapple Express star is speaking out to clarify a viral story regarding Watson’s time on the set of his directorial debut, This Is the End. After a recent interview with GQ sparked rumors that the Harry Potter actress “stormed off” the set, Rogen took to X (formerly Twitter) to make sure the world knows Watson was anything but “unprofessional.”

The buzz began when Rogen discussed a particular scene that Watson was originally scheduled to appear in. Reports quickly spun the story into a narrative that Watson had left the production in an “uncool” manner—a claim Rogen is now shutting down in no uncertain terms.

“I want to correct a story that has emerged from a recent interview I gave. It misrepresents what actually happened,” Rogen wrote in a candid statement. “Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s sy that the perception is that she did.”

The scene in question was a high-concept comedic moment near the film’s finale. In the movie, Danny McBride’s character becomes a post-apocalyptic cannibal who keeps Channing Tatum as a “gimp” on a leash.

Rogen admitted that while the scene was on the page, the reality of filming it was a different story. “I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was,” he explained.

The director took full responsibility for the awkward situation, noting that his own lack of communication put Watson in a tough spot. “The narrative that she was in some way uncool or unprofessional is complete bt,” Rogen added. “I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable position.”

Fans on social media have praised Watson for knowing her boundaries, and it turns out Rogen feels the same way. He revealed that the two spoke that same night and mutually agreed she wouldn’t appear in the scene.

“It was overall a sy situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did,” Rogen shared.

Despite the decade-old drama resurfacing, Rogen made it clear there is no bad blood. In fact, he’s ready to hop back into the director’s chair with her anytime.

“I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again,” he concluded. “I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it.”

This Is the End was a massive hit upon its release, earning $ million globally and cementing Rogen as a directing powerhouse. It seems that while the world ended on screen, the respect between these two stars is still very much alive.
