Happy th Birthday, Emma Watson! Times the Star Said Exactly What We Were All Thinking

By Brian Williams 03/07/2026

Emma Watson turns this Wednesday, which means we’re currently celebrating by eating a giant slice of cake and simultaneously asking ourselves: “What have we even accomplished with our lives?”

While we’re still figuring that out, the talented, clever, and “crazy-successful” Watson has packed several lifetimes of wisdom into just two-and-a-half decades. Whether she’s advocating for global change or keeping it real about Hollywood standards, the Harry Potter alum has a knack for breaking the internet with just a few words.

To celebrate her milestone birthday, we’re letting the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador do the talking. Here are times Emma Watson was our ultimate inspiration.

On Equality and Activism

Emma has moved far beyond the halls of Hogwarts, becoming a leading voice for the HeForShe campaign. Her UN address remains one of the most viral moments in modern activism.

“I think it is right I am paid the same as my male counterparts,” she famously stated. “I think it is right that I should make decisions about my own body… I think it is right that socially, I am afforded the same respect as men.”

She even turned her nerves into a rallying cry that fans still use as captions today: “If not me, who? If not now, when?”

On Crushing Stereotypes

Emma isn’t just fighting for women; she’s inviting everyone to the table. On X (formerly Twitter), she reminded us that “gender equality not only liberates women but also men from prescribed gender stereotypes.”

When a fan tweeted her that her dad said engineering wasn’t for girls, Emma’s three-word response went viral for its simplicity: “Become an engineer.”

On Keeping It Real

Despite her fame, Emma is surprisingly relatable. She’s been open about her “dark times” and the “voice in my head that makes me pretty hard on myself.” She’s even shared her love for American variety, specifically the food: “Bagels—they’re the best thing ever!”

She also isn’t afraid to throw a little shade at L.A. beauty standards. “L.A. scares the crap out of me,” she once admitted. “If I have to… have Botox at … I will absolutely lose it.”

On Relationships and Growth

From shutting down Prince Harry dating rumors (“WORLD. Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!”) to her perfect take on dating (“Chivalry should be consensual”), Emma has the best advice.

As she enters her mid-twenties, she’s embracing the aging process. “I feel a lot more settled in who I am,” she says. “I don’t need anyone else to say whether they think it’s good or not. I think that comes with age, which is nice.”

Happy Birthday, Emma! Thanks for always saying it better than we could.
