J.K. Rowling Slams Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson Over Trans Rights Support, Says She Won’t Accept an Apology

The tension within the halls of the Wizarding World just hit a breaking point.

J.K. Rowling is making headlines once again for her controversial stance on transgender rights, but this time, the Harry Potter author is directly calling out the franchise’s biggest stars: Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

In a series of viral posts on X (formerly Twitter), Rowling signaled a deep divide between herself and the actors who brought Harry and Hermione to life, suggesting that the bridge between them might be burned for good.

The online firestorm ignited when Rowling responded to a new report regarding gender care treatments for young people. When a follower suggested that Radcliffe and Watson owed her “a very public apology” and presumed the author would forgive them, Rowling was quick to shut the idea down.

“Not safe, I’m afraid,” Rowling replied, taking a sharp jab at her former colleagues.

She continued by targeting “celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors,” telling them they can “save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women.”

This isn’t the first time the trio has been at odds. The rift began in when Rowling first faced backlash for ridiculing the phrase “people who menstruate,” sparking a global conversation about the rights of transgender individuals.

At the time, Daniel Radcliffe—a longtime supporter of The Trevor Project—made his stance crystal clear in a heartfelt essay.

“Transgender women are women,” Radcliffe wrote. “Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.”

Emma Watson was equally vocal, taking to social media to send love directly to her fans.

“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned,” Watson tweeted. “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”

While Rowling continues to defend her position, the viral nature of this latest exchange has left Harry Potter fans torn, with many taking to TikTok and X to discuss the legacy of the series in light of the author’s comments.

For now, it seems the stars and the creator of the series they helped make a global phenomenon remain on opposite sides of a very public—and very emotional—battle.

Would you like me to keep you updated on any responses from Daniel Radcliffe or Emma Watson regarding these new comments?
