Per Variety, Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in and produce Why Don't You Love Me?, an A24 movie adaptation of Paul B. Rainey's 2023 graphic novel of the same name. The dark science fiction comedy revolves around a married couple, Claire and Mark, who are unhappy and detached in their relationship but also "feeling like something is not quite right in their reality," according to A24. Why Don't You Love Me? explores issues such as a failing marriage, depression, addiction, and the feeling of regret as Claire and Mark are convinced they are living in a horrible dream.

Based on the premise, Why Don't You Love Me? is the perfect project for Lawrence because the upcoming movie's genres are ones that she has extensively worked on and thrived on in the past. Lawrence has sci-fi roots with her role as Katniss in The Hunger Games and Aurora in Passengers. Meanwhile, she excelled in dark comedies such as Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Don't Look Up.
