Rachel Zegler is in search of some sisterly connection in her industry.

In her March cover story for Allure, the 23-year-old actress — who plays the titular princess in the Disney live-action remake of Snow White — revealed that she often has had a difficult time forming close, genuine bonds in Hollywood.

“All I’m ever really looking for in this business is a sister,” she told the magazine, “and they’re not always easy to find.”

“We’re often told that other women have to be your competition and I don’t subscribe to that,” the West Side Story star continued. Instead, she explained, “I really do believe in championing your friends and championing your coworkers, whether you're close with them or not.”

If rivalry does arise, Zegler advises working it out on the remix à la Charli xcx and Lorde. The “second that there's any intimidation or competition,” she told Allure, “just put on ‘Girl, so confusing’ by Charli xcx and talk it out.”

“I’ve come to know that in the last couple of years, in search of female friendship in the industry, there is room for all of us no matter what anybody else will have you think,” she added.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes star’s comments come amid a source telling PEOPLE that the rising star “has nothing in common” with her Snow White costar Gal Gadot, a 39-year-old mother of four. And “on top of that,” the source added, “their political views differ, adding to the tension.”

A different source, meanwhile, told PEOPLE that “Gal is annoyed by the movie drama.” The star, who plays the Evil Queen in the family film, “enjoyed filming” and “was fine with Rachel but they are not friends,” the source added. “They have nothing in common… They did a job together and that’s it.”

Jameela Jamil, she told the magazine, “is like a big sister to me. I love that she has no regrets about being outspoken, about being strong-willed and strong-minded.”

Another performer, Ariana Grande, also stepped into a sisterly role of sorts for the Snow White star, reaching out with advice from her own experiences in the public eye, Zegler revealed to Allure .

"She reached out to me — kind of apropos of nothing — and was like, 'If you need anything, I am here.' She is so deeply kind,” Zegler said of the Wicked Oscar nominee. “She has gone through so much in the public eye, and I have always really, really admired her courage in the face of all of that."

Meanwhile, veteran actresses Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu — who starred alongside Zegler in 2023’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods — have been her “keepers in all of this,” she said, adding that she feels “very held by them."
