After portraying Wonder Woman in the DCEU, Gal Gadot could make the move to the MCU, particularly after she proved just why she'd be perfect for a role in Marvel Studios' franchise. Israeli actor Gal Gadot rose to stardom as Gisele Yashar in the Fast and Furious franchise, debuting in 2009. Since then, she's appeared in projects including Criminals and Red Notice with Ryan Reynolds, Kenneth Branagh's Death on the Nile, and is working on a biopic focused on Cleopatra. However, Gadot is perhaps best-known for portraying Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, in the DCEU, but with Wonder Woman's DC future unclear, Gadot could make the move to the MCU.
Gal Gadot debuted as Wonder Woman in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and is often regarded as one of the strongest elements of Zack Snyder's crossover film. This introduction spurred two solo sequels, 2017's Wonder Woman and 2020's Wonder Woman 1984, a spot on DC's Justice League team, and a series of cameo appearances in several DCEU projects. Despite her popularity, Gal Gadot's future as Wonder Woman is in jeopardy, as DC Studios hasn't revealed any plans to bring her back for the new DC Universe. Even so, Gadot has discussed her affinity for the superhero genre, suggesting she could assume a role in the MCU instead.
Gal Gadot's Ideal Superhero Role Sets Up A Perfect MCU Future
During a 2022 interview with RSNG in the lead up to Death on the Nile's release, Gal Gadot's career as Wonder Woman was touched on, with the actor revealing striking differences between her performance as the fantastical superhero and her more subdued role in Branagh's period murder mystery. While she suggested that there were aspects of superhero acting that she doesn't enjoy, Gadot did state that she "love[s] the superhero genre, the feeling of power and the leaning on fantasy adventure." Expanding, Gadot revealed that she "will always want to satisfy that yearning in [her] movie career," implying future superhero roles following Wonder Woman would be a possibility for the actor.
Since Gadot's future in the DC Universe is currently uncertain, her continuous hunt for superhero roles could bring her into the MCU instead. Ever since the announcement of the DCEU's reboot, and Gadot's future in the franchise being thrown into jeopardy, many have been fan-casting Gadot as a rich variety of Marvel characters. Powerful heroes such as Captain Universe and Drax's daughter Moondragon have been suggested, as well as potentially-upcoming mutant characters including telepath Emma Frost, Magneto's daughter Polaris, or shape-shifter Mystique – all of which would be in line with the parts of the genre that Gadot most appreciates. With confusion surrounding DC Studios, there is a clear opportunity for Gal Gadot to be introduced as a character in the MCU.
Why Gadot Would Be A Great Future MCU Casting
Marvel Studios could benefit from casting an actor of the caliber of Gal Gadot, not least because she'd bring her fan-base to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which the franchise may sorely need after some disappointing projects in MCU Phase 4 and 5. Gadot's love for the superhero genre means she would be fully committed to whatever role she embodies, and her experience as one of the strongest parts of the DCEU make her a hot commodity in the superhero world. Gal Gadot did such a fantastic job at bringing Wonder Woman to life in the DCEU, that Marvel Studios would be smart to consider her for a major role in the MCU's future.
