Despite the occasional challenge from shows such as MobLand and Dexter, writer-director Taylor Sheridan continues to maintain a stronghold on the Paramount+ streaming service. The entertainment mogul has created numerous hit shows for the service, with his latest success being the third season of Tulsa King, which debuted at the top of the viewership charts. But while the crime drama starring Sylvester Stallone dominates the rankings, one of Sheridan's other hits has passed a milestone of its own. The drama series Landman, which concluded its debut season in January, has now completed over five months on the Paramount+ top 10 charts.
September 30 marked over 160 days inside the top 10 for Landman, who is set to return with a sophomore season in November. Starring Billy Bob Thornton as the titular wheeler and dealer working out of Texas during a particularly lucrative oil boom, the show emerged as one of the biggest streaming hits of 2024. According to FlixPatrol, Landman was the fifth-most-watched show on Paramount+ domestically on September 30, via Amazon. The list was led by Tulsa King and also included the recently concluded Dexter: Resurrection. Paramount's global rankings also included fellow Sheridan shows such as Yellowstone and Lioness.
The hit-maker has also created the Yellowstone spin-offs 1883 and 1923, with the upcoming The Madison and Y: Marshals around the corner. Additionally, he created Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner. Sheridan broke out as a writer with the acclaimed film Sicario, following it up with the equally beloved Hell or High Water, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Wind River, and Those Who Wish Me Dead. The highly prolific scribe also has a new movie in the works. Titled F.A.S.T., the film stars Brandon Sklenar, LaKieth Stanfield, Julia Canfield, and Sam Claflin.

Landman debuted to positive reviews and is currently sitting at a 78% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics' consensus reads, "Landman plumbs much of the same territory as other Taylor Sheridan-penned series, but having Billy Bob Thornton on hand turns this Texas crude into highly watchable fuel." Landman's sustained success cemented Sheridan's reputation as the man with the Midas touch. Also starring Ali Larter and Andy Garcia, Landman will return for a second season later this year. You can catch up on the first on Paramount+, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
